Reaction to the AMANAT party victory in the elections in Kazakhstan

Observers of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) cautiously welcomed the results of the parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan, where the ruling Amanat party (formerly known as Nur Otan) won a landslide victory.

At the last elections, for the first time in almost 20 years, several representatives of the opposition took part as independent candidates. OSCE experts described such innovations as a step towards democracy, but stressed the need to continue democratic reforms.

Here I just want to quote the OSCE:
«Based on the recommendations given earlier, some amendments were made to the legislative framework, which provided voters with a wider choice,» the observers’ report notes. «However, in order to form a sufficient basis for holding [free] democratic elections, further reforms are needed.»

Another independent opinion:
«Despite the registration of opposition candidates and critics of Tokayev, the system of election control and vote counting has not changed. All election commissions, from the central to the precinct, are formed from [members of] the same seven pro-presidential parties, plus there are state employees appointed by akimats. That is, the presidential administration controls the election result,» the Kazakh political scientist says.

Since 1991, the OSCE has not recognized any elections held by the Kazakh authorities. And this is already 32 years…

And what are we hearing now?
«…In order to hold democratic elections, we need:…» — What does the OSCE say? Right. There have been no democratic elections and there are none. And whatever they happen, the OSCE recommends further reforms. And how many of these reforms have already been conducted? This is a rhetorical question. Our government has been skillfully «playing a song to the West» for not a single decade in order to dictate life to the people of Kazakhstan and continue to support Putin’s bloody war in independent Ukraine, providing direct assistance in circumventing the sanctions of the world civilized society.

In fact, the first elections held in Kazakhstan under the new rules took place after President Tokayev carried out a large-scale electoral reform.

The new electoral system was called more liberal, but the law states that two-thirds of the mandates in the lower house are distributed among seven official political parties, where all are currently pro-government. How is this possible? Is it that simple? Are they pro-government? There are no words.

Tokayev assumed power in March 2019, after the voluntary resignation of the permanent post-Soviet leader Nursultan Nazarbayev from the presidential post. But the thinking people of independent Kazakhstan understand that in fact the authorities stirred with a «smoke screen» for the gullible people only after the January events of last year, where dictator Nazarbayev realized that he could not continue to rule the country so openly with Tokayev’s hands, especially traveling instead of the current president on international trips. Then, after mass protests demanding Nazarbayev’s complete withdrawal from politics, Tokayev gave the order to «shoot without warning» in order to disperse peaceful citizens of Kazakhstan, where the authorities once again destroyed innocent people with the help of military weapons, calling them terrorists in order to preserve power. We all remember and will always remind you of this. The authorities then realized that they needed to launch a «new project» as soon as possible, otherwise the discontent of the people will take on a more organizational character. But the thinking people of Kazakhstan understand what is happening and last elections in the country have again demonstrated the true state of affairs in the country and the anti-democratic course of the Kazakh authorities.

And now I would like to remind you that all the opposition parties of Kazakhstan that were registered in these elections are pro-government and quickly created in the favor of Tokayev and that will again simply serve their function in the system of power. This is another fraud of the people of Kazakhstan and there can be no question of any «New Kazakhstan» performed in our country. No Democracy awaits us, dear people. The real opposition was completely suppressed and repressed in attempts to register parties. But the thinking people of our country know what is happening and realize that only by uniting together we will be able to resist the authorities! The true power belongs to us ! To the Independent People of Kazakhstan!
